Changes in the Garden Valley Senior Center are happening with many things staying in place. The community has stuck by the Senior Center and Grannie’s Closet as a hub of activities of sorts. Many activities take manpower and volunteers to make it successful. As time goes by, with the community rallying behind efforts, the Senior Center can be even more active.
The annual Talent Show, sponsored by the GV Senior Center, will be happening on February 24 at the Crouch Community Hall. This event enjoyed by the community and many people come to participate in showcasing a variety of talents. Skits and music and dance are often the backbone of the show. Magicians, hula dancing and other fun talents come out of the woodwork for this event. The community is invited to be thinking up what they want to do for this year’s show. Or, plan to come and take in such a talented community. More information will be coming soon.
One area that was hoped to continue and thrive was the service of monthly lunches and/or dinners. People and plans change and so does the Center’s kitchen. They are once again without a Cook. This position is a volunteer position at this time and could also be a temporary one with possibilities of being full time. What is needed is a Food Handler’s Certificate to run a kitchen that serves the public. Attendance varies but often they average 50 or so people and there are people who enjoy helping the day of a meal. Interested individuals should send a brief letter of interest to the GVSC Board of Directors, c/o Box 424, Garden Valley ID 83622 listing their background, qualifications, and special skills. Open until filled.
