Garden Valley Center for the Arts is featuring local artisans for the month of November and December. The gallery is open every weekend Friday through Sunday from 1-4pm for browsing and shopping. Commission from all sales help fund projects and keep the center open all year.

On November 25th, the Annual Tree Lighting event will happen from 5:45pm to 6:15 pm on the pathway beside the Garden Valley Market. This event is sponsored by the Garden Valley Market and GV Chamber of Commerce. The GVCA gallery will stay open during the event to pass out hot apple cider and cookies.

At their recent Board of Directors meeting some items were hammered out for the coming year activities.  The gallery is going to gallery shows starting back up in February. It is never too early to start planning for these shows that the community can be involved in. Other times there will be shows with featured artists.

The wildly popular Hearts for the Arts and Chocolate Auction will be held Feb. 10, 2017. Along with our usual chocolate, artists will be asked to submit art with a “Heart Theme” for sale and one to donate a for a silent auction to be held on the 10th.  Submissions for the show and art auction are due Wednesday, January 31st, at 10 a.m. Artists who donate an item for auction will receive an additional 10% commission on art sold during the show. Chocolate donations for the silent auction, due Saturday, Feb 10 at 4 p.m.

A date change was decided for the James Castle Art Festival. It is moving it to the 1st weekend in September. A planning committee meeting will soon be established for all interested persons. Planning will begin no later than Feb. 2018.

The GVCA wants to pass the baton for the Spring Fling event which has been held the first Saturday in May. The GV Chamber is busy with planning for the 4th of July celebration. There is hope that another organization/businesses will pick-up the celebration and turn it into a possible Chili, Dutch oven, or soup cook-off to help open up the town after a long winter.

Any questions, interests, or comments please email or stop by the gallery during open hours.
