Garden Valley Chamber News for Upcoming Meeting and Events

The Greater Garden Valley Chamber of Commerce Is making plans to round out the year with more activities in the fall and into the New Year. Membership does make a difference and the members are supportive in promotion of businesses.

The next General Membership meeting is scheduled for September 14th, at the Crouch Community Hall 6pm. Business networking time is a valuable part of being present.

Members are encouraged to come and have a place to input ideas or address issues. Marketing the businesses with events is discussed.  The Chamber is open to ideas by any business member.

The meeting will cover the topic of summer problems with Sunday traffic tie-ups being a difficult at Banks and Highway 55. Businesses are feeling the crunch of loss of revenue because tourists want to leave the area early in order to beat traffic waits at Banks.

Members will soon be contacted for their place in the Chamber Yellow Book.  The cost to be in the book is free for business name and phone number. A larger add will cost a bit more.  The Yellow Book is a very successful and handy list of Chamber members that are sold to the community at local businesses.

A coming event planned for September 23rd is another concert event with Joni Harms & the Harms-way Band. Time will be 2-4 pm in downtown Crouch which coincided with the James Castle Arts Festival happening all that Saturday.

Another Chamber sponsored event the evening of the 23rd will be a family friendly Soap Box Derby that will go from 5-7 pm right along the Old Crouch Road. Kids can find a car that fits them and race down the road. No need to own a car, there will be cars available. Some rules will be established for safety of the kids and the cars. This is a free event.

Halloween would not be the same without the annual TRUNK OR TREAT that fills downtown Crouch at 6pm on Saturday the 28th of October. Other events will be determined closer to the date. Contact Larry & Julie Sirhall 342-2444 if you have questions or want to volunteer. Time to start planning the decorated trunks and costumes for the spooky visitors.

There will be a CHRISTMAS LIGHTING COMPETITION, sponsored by IDAHO POWER, one of our members and is for all Chamber Business members.  There is discussion of having a window decoration judging along with businesses. Contact Tami Smith 462-4620 at the Garden Valley properties office to have your name added to the list to be judged!
