Michael (Mike) O’Loughlin – December 15, 1951 to May 2017
Garden Valley – Michael (Mike) O’Loughlin passed away this past weekend from natural causes after a long sickness. Painting was his life and he painted in great detail. His work has been in galleries across the US at one point in time. Mike’s depiction of wildlife, Indian culture and even soldiers in his paintings told a story of his views on life. Mike has lived in Placerville and Idaho City in the past. He settled in Garden Valley, still enjoying his painting and being with close friends. Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date.Michae

Michael was a really good friend and mentor. We loved him for his crazy personality, and were always amazed at how his brain was able to picture something then make it into a beautiful painting. He was a teacher at a college back east for quite a few years. I wonder how many students came out of his class with the love of painting that he was always so happy to share! Michael slowly turned into a hermit the last few years of his life. He was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis which almost stopped his ability to paint. That broke his heart and put him in and out of deep depression for many years. He suffered from extreme pain from many back and neck surgeries. He loved his friends and would do anything for anyone if he was able. His best friends were his cats which have been unable to be caught since his passing. I’m just happy to know he had such a full life and was able to meet many interesting people through his artistry. Michael you were so loved and will be greatly missed by so many! GOD SPEED
