Sunday, November 13 at the GV Library from 3:30 to 4:30 for the release and book signing of local Author Gail Chumbley’s second volume and follow up to her first novel – River of January Figure Eight.

River of January and volume two  River of January Figure Eight, is a true, decade-long biography of the ups and downs experienced in the lives of pilot Montgomery “Chum” Chumbley and entertainer Helen Thompson.  In this historical narrative, a fascinating story unfolds as Helen and Chum each attempt to further their careers and personal ambitions, often resulting in fascinating brushes with fame and history during the dramatic changes happening in interbellum America.  roj-poster-resized

10% of book sales are donated to the Garden Valley Center for the Arts and The Garden Valley Library.

About Gail –  – Gail and her husband Chad are residents of Garden Valley. With a life-long passion for things of the past, Gail Chumbley acquired her degree in American History from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington.  Shortly after, she completed her teaching credential and began a decades-long career in history education, recently retiring after 33 years from the Boise school district.

After the book reading, please join us for a concert featuring jazz vocalist Nicole Christensen Pettinger as she brings the period music of River of January to life!  Sponsored by the GVCA and hosted at Two Rivers in Crouch, Nicole will perform from 5-7 pm on Sunday, November 13.  Attendees from the River of January book reading admitted free or $5 per person at the door.  Cash Bar and full menu offered during performance.
